I Rescued a Human Today

I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.  I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little

accident I had in the back of my cage.
I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today.  Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past.  I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me.  I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her.  Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe.  I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.
I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.
So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors.
So many more to be saved.  At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.

So we are now what you call a foster failure... LOL  We fell in love with Belle and have decided to adopt her.  She is a total sweetheart and fits right into our little family.  Maybe we are nuts to have 3 dogs.. but we will see what happens! :)  We are continuing to foster puppies... hoping to get a litter of Shih-tzu pups soon!

Remember Belle?

Remember this cutie pie?

She's back and much bigger!!

For many reasons, her old owner has to give her back... so she is now back here waiting for a new home!  Please let me know if you know anyone who would love her!  She has some social anxiety but once she gets to know you she is a big sweetie pie!

My Amazing Husband!

Jsut a quick post today!  I have more pictures of the flower litter to post.. just haven't had time!

One thing that I was not expecting when we started fostering dogs was that it would make me love my amazing husband even more!  Fostering puppies really brings out the best in him.  He is always willing to do whatever is needed with the puppies: pick up poop, feed them, give them meds, take them to the vet, clean out their cage and on and on..  Two things that were adorable with this new litter:

I overheard him singing a song to them when he "put them to bed" the other night...
I often overhear him talking to them in a baby voice that is so cute!

Also, he tends to get close to one girl in each litter and calls them "girlfriend"  and it's so adorable! :)

So this post is dedicated to Adam, my amazing dog-loving husband!! :)

His birthday is on Monday, May 23 - maybe one of my presents to him will be a day off of the constant task of taking care of puppies! :)

The Flower Litter

Seeing as it is Spring, we decided to name this gorgeous litter after flowers (or trees)! :)  Like I said earlier, they are 5 weeks old and weight about 3 pounds each!

This litter was brought to our house on Monday night.  They are the cutest little things! Unfortunately, they were pretty sick (I won't go into details..)  However, today we are seeing improvements so things are looking up!  Right now, they act just like babies - eat, sleep, poop...  They are getting more and more playful though.  Right now, I hear them wrestling in the other room... One will grab another and I hear howling!  I want to pull them apart but I know they need to learn to fend for themselves... They are so young though and I think a mom would typically be around to pull them apart...

and now what you have all been waiting for...

I am pleased to introduce to you the Flower Pups:

Aspen (female)

 Bud (only male!)

 Lily (female)

 Rosie (female)

 Violet (female)

Willow (female)

Australian Shepherd Puppies!!!

So... Adam and I had decided to take a break for a few weeks from fostering because we have a busy May.  However... Pet Tales Rescue really needed a home for a litter of Australian Shepherd puppies and after seeing these pictures, we just couldn't resist!

We are getting them Monday night.  There are 5 girls and 1 boy.  They are only 4 weeks old and only about 2 lbs each...

We are struggling to come up with names, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

So... I am waiting right now for Prince Charming's new parents to come and pick him up. The rest of them went to their new homes last weekend.  They were so sweet but were getting so big!  They each needed their own home and owners to give them love!   I made them bandanas:

Here are some pics of the pups on their last days with us:
